Inskiers racing - information session December 7th

A former member
Hello Members of Inskiers’ Meetup Group,

Ever thought about racing?

My name is Dan Walker, one of Inskiers Race Directors. We are actively recruiting for our ski/board team. We are one of five clubs that competes in Singles League, member of the Far West Race Association and affiliated with the Bay Area Snow Sports Council (BAC). We race at various resorts around Lake Tahoe.

We will be providing information and Q&A about racing at tomorrow’s meeting, December 7th, at Chevys in Foster City. I invite you to attend.

Here are couple of reasons that you might want consider joining up:

It is for everyone. It is fun for all ability levels. Racing is an organized event for all skiers and snowboarders including those who are just learning to ski and board. We offer expert level racing, but the majority of participants are beginners and intermediates. The mission is bringing people together and having fun. We race in classes covering 11 skill levels. We match you up to a skill class and you compete only against others within that class. If you improve, and most people do over time, we’ll bump you up to the next class level (always a rewarding experience to be “bumped up”).

It is a great way to accelerate learning. The skills you learn from hanging out with racers and coaches translate to free skiing. You’ll learn to ski and ride with greater control and confidence. We arrange a number of training clinics throughout the season, including beginner race training for first timers. It is more fun and a lot less expensive then taking lessons. You’ll learn proper technique, and you’ll receive feedback as well as rewards as you watch your times improve from race to race.

The first race is January 8th, and we plan a couple of optional training weekends before then. Training is open to all club members, whether you plan to race during the season or not. So, if you’re a little unsure, join the club and try training with us and see if it’s for you.

We hope to see you tomorrow night,

Best Regards,

Dan Walker
Inskiers Race Director

p.s., if you cannot make it tomorrow night, feel free to contact me by email for more information or with questions.
