The purpose of this group is to meet for "intellectual" discussions about a wide variety of subjects. This basically means the abstract analysis of the ideas in a subject. And the goal is to do it in a cooperative, courteous manner. The motive behind the group is to provide an opportunity to talk about ideas, so it's really not a place to relate personal stories or vent personal feelings.

Our discussions are expected to be strongly based in reason & rationality. This means the kind of logical, rigorous thinking that takes place in science & philosophy, for example. The group is not interested in mystical, supernatural, spiritual, new age, pseudo-scientific, or anti-scientific forms of thinking or beliefs.

However, if you like to think in a logical-scientific way, and you know quite a bit about certain subjects in the areas of Science, Philosophy, the Social Sciences, History, Literature, the Arts, Current Affairs, or other intellectual fields, then the group might be a good fit.
