Welcome New Eco-Villagers!

  • September 7, 2013 · 10:00 AM
  • This location is shown only to members

Every three months on the first Saturday of the month, from 10am - 2, we invite new people to join us for the first time, and regulars to meet new people while we share food and a movie on community and get to know each other a bit more. The intent of our New Member Welcome meeting is to:

• Introduce new people and those who've been meeting for awhile to each other, giving space for people to share their passions, dreams, and interests;
• Inform new people of what we're up to and what we've accomplished, including the processes we've developed so far, our form of self-governance and inclusive decision making, our values, and our vision;
• Give new people some preliminary information so you can decide if you want to explore our project further.

This is an educational format, where anyone is welcome to learn more about the process of creating an ecovillage, whether or not you become interested in being part of this particular project.

You must sign up for this meet-up in advance.  If no one new signs up at least 24 hours before the meet-up time, we will cancel this particular meet-up. A $1 -5.00 donation is requested but not required to offset the Meet-up costs and contribute to this ecovillage. You may also make a $20 membership contribution on this site as well if you wish to contribute more.

    I enjoyed meeting everyone and hearing their stories and perspectives. I appreciate your hospitality FionaRhea and making us feel welcome. It was very intersting to hear about Dancing Rabbit and ideas for Camp Oma. I hope to be able to continue to learn and grow along with this community. There was such a wonderful group of people there on Saturday.

    Thank you so much for your gracious hospitality Fiona. It was a pleasure meeting everyone, and I enjoyed the videos of Dancing Rabbit and learning more about your vision. Thank you for also sharing your meeting minutes. I look forward to learning more about your vision, organizational and practical needs, wish lists, and getting to the property to become acquainted and help finish the cottage before the rains come when I know I can be of service and have directions. Blessings to all as this moves forward!

    My apologies! I find that it is too much rushing around to try to make it today and then leave really early. I hope there are some regular meetings and I could attend one soon. sorry to miss the Dancing Rabbit report. One of my former housemates lived and worked there for a couple of years a while ago.

    I'm not sure why the RSVP only lets me add 2 people but there will be six total. Is it OK to bring children?

    I just have a question. Why is there a fee?

    1 · July 5, 2013

    • FionaRhea

      The fee helps to cover the cost of having a meet-up group which has a monthly fee, I also serve tea and that costs money, and thirdly, it takes money to build an ecovillage and last year alone I personally spent over $8,000, which a $2.00 fee does not cover. It is simply a way to help offset the basic minimum.

      Thank you for your reply. I was just wondering why it would cost money to meet up.

    I'd like to sign up for this event. It looks like I just missed a good one, but I've been ill so couldn't attend anyways.

      Hi Denise, Sorry you couldn't make it. It was my last campout for the summer. However, Don, an assistant organizer will be up there frequently so if you'd like to visit the land and lend a hand to build CampOma, just send him an email by clicking on his name under organizers of this Meetup.
