InterPlay! No, it's not naked football but a space to connect, create, and celebrate being alive here, in this unique place, and now, at this propitious moment, with all its challenges for those of who want to "believe" and to "be the change."
Once a week, in the spirit of InterPlay, I am facilitating a gathering for this vibrant "Who Dat" community to continue the celebration of "unity through diversity" that our love for the Saints inspired.
Come forth and schedule a slot for yourself, discuss the possibilities of scheduling yourself, or make recommendations for other community artists to take a slot and share songs, stories, performances, visual art or healing gifts. And if you don't yet have the courage for a whole slot to yourself, come be a witness to the amazing talents and creativity that this playshop will unleash! We need a whole lot of "Who Dats." This is about making community more than about natural born talent!
Starting in March, along with a guest artist, I will co-lead InterPlay activities that allow us to practice being "present" in performance or that help us find comfort in turning some part of our experience into art. Don't be shy with suggestions for bringing this Creative Courage Circle to life. Who da boss? You da boss!
Bring your written or spoken word, your improv stories, your songs and dances, your healing arts, bring your talents or non-talents to share in the circle, bring whatever you have or want to have more of in your life year round.
Come welcome Alex Mercedes, arts educator with an MA in Transformative Arts, a song writer, musician, improv performance artist, and a fellow InterPlayer, who will co-facilitate this first playshop. Alex studied with Cynthia Winton-Henry, one of InterPlay's founders, when she was in grad school in school in California.
On Sunday, February 21, 2010, Come to a Planning Playshop with Alex and Jean for a Here and Now Creative Courage Circle to learn the easy concepts of InterPlay in a short practice session followed by an offering of your own gifts as a community artist. (Just google InterPlay New Orleans, our Meet Up group for more info about principles of InterPlay.)
3 to 5 P.M.
Heck. Just Come.
