"Personal Impact for women who want to lead and succeed" by Lisa Akesson

What is Personal Impact? We certainly recognize it when we see it in others. That powerful presence that captures you when someone walks into the room, gives a pitch, chairs a meeting, leads a team or speaks in public. The truth is we are constantly creating an impact on those around us, whether we take centre stage or sit quietly in a corner. People pick up on everything about us and swiftly evaluate; how we dress, our body language, what we say and how we say it.

Contrary to popular belief, the ability to create a memorable positive impression and effect change is not the sole realm of a few apparently charismatic people but rather an entirely learnable set of behaviour and skills that you can possess.

As a woman, standing out, being seen as credible, confident and having impact are essential skills if you are to move up the career ladder, take on leadership roles or run your own business.

Whatever your professional profile, however skilled you are, you will always be remembered for the impact you make. The question is, what kind of impact are you creating and is it getting you the recognition, validation and success you deserve?

Men are very welcome to this talk too!

Reasons to attend

·  If you want to come across as a confident communicator and expert in your field

·  If you want to stand out, be seen and have presence when you speak

·  If you want to be heard and not talked over, interrupted or asked to speak up at meetings or when presenting your message

·  If you want to learn some powerful skills taught primarily to trained Actors and Professional speakers

Then this very interactive talk is for you.

You will discover how to

·  Access your physical presence and be seen

·  Access your vocal presence and be heard

·  Use your breath to calm and centre yourself during those challenging moments  at work or when having to speak in public

·  Exude credibility, gravitas and authority

I really enjoyed the talk by Lisa. She gave some really useful tips on posture and how to use your breath. It was really interesting hearing about the dog/cat technique as my own business is about coaching and mentoring and you come across so many characters on a daily basis. I'm sure it will really help my business. You can always take something away from these talks. Thanks Matt

Lisa was a lively and engaging speaker. Whilst it is tricky to convey your message in a couple of hours the standard is quite high at Interesting Talks and I found the content didn't resonate with me somehow. Perhaps little less time on cat/ dog analogy and maybe more of an exercise about how to be that "authentic you"lisa touched upon at end of talk. Given the great value of the talks bit tough to be too critical I was just expecting bit more on " leading and succeeding"!
