Intermediate African Drumming with Alan Dworsky Award-winning author of instructional books and DVDs for hand drummers

Welcome to the drum! Join Al's legendary Wednesday night class, which plays a key role in his Gentle Djembe videos (which you can see samples of at GentleDjembe.com). Al's class has been meeting at Eisenhower Elementary School through Hopkins Community Ed for almost four years now. Some of the students have been with him from the start, but many have joined the class only recently. New students are welcome to join the class at any time, and I do my best to integrate you gradually into the rhythms, giving you easy parts to play at first.
In addition to learning to drum and experiencing the thrill of playing with a group, by joining this class you’ll also be joining a community. The atmosphere on Wednesday nights is relaxed and informal, and we always spend a little time checking in with any news about the group (Candy went to China, Denise went back to school, Marshall had a baby girl!).
There are several sessions of six classes each during the school year at Hopkins Community Ed. Each session usually costs about $59. The next session begins Wednesday,January 25th at 7PM. Call to register at: 952-988-4070, or email Al at: aldworsky@comcast.net
Alan Dworsky is the award-winning author of How to Play Djembe, Conga Drumming, Hip Grooves for Hand Drums, A Rhythmic Vocabulary, Secrets of the Hand, Learn to Solo on Djembe or Conga, and the Gentle Djembe video series.
