Tuscany Walking Tour Full but Waiting List Empty...be the first!

UPDATE! The Tuscany Walking Tour  is now full with  12 Meetup members signed up! However, there is a waiting list and a chance that spaces may open up.  To be put on the waiting list you need to call and leave a $300 fully refundable deposit. As soon as someone cancels, you will be in. With a total of 30 travelers, there is a good chance someone will cancel..hopefully from the other group!! Check website for details and call to enroll. Andiamo!

The group has decided!! We will be going to Italy in April 2014!! April is the perfect time to travel to Italy, especially for walkers! It's not yet high tourist season, prices are lower, and the weather will be comfortable. We will depart Boston April 17, 2014 and be gone for 11-14 days depending on whether you choose to do the Rome extension.

http://annroy.grouptoursite.com

Here is the website where you can look over the itinerary. Be sure to look at the slide show, the videos and also click on the drop down menu next to each day to see the events of each day. Enrollment may be done online or by phone. You will save about $300 if you have a room mate, but if you don't have one yet, they will enroll you as a single and the adjustment will be made as soon as you have one. It is a flexible payment plan..after the $300 deposit, payments may be made as often as you want. Full payment is due 70 days before departure. (I also recommend trip insurance)

Includes Montecatini, Siena, Volterra, Cortona, Val d'Orica Region, Florence, Chianti and more. $3,477. (extension: 2 extra nights in Rome for $359 more)
The price quoted above is based on double occupancy and I figured in 2 optional excursions so you'd get a good ball-park idea, but your cost will vary (less or more) depending on what you choose for optionals. All flights, transportation, accommodations, breakfasts, some other meals and admission fees to scheduled itinerary sites included.

Walking tours involve about 1-1.5 hours of walking per day...I don't think anyone who has come to any of our Meetups would have a problem with the pace. And if someone doesn't want to walk that day, there is plenty for them to do and see in town.

This is going to be an awesome trip!!I hope you can join us!

I am still taking in the whole experience continuing to reflect on all the beauty and history of Tuscany and enjoying getting to know a bit better so many great ladies!

I was just talking to a gentleman in the wine area at Trader Joe's tonight. Bought a bottle of red wine and did not notice until I got home and put on my eyeglasses that the bottle of wine he had recommended is "Vino Nobile Di Montepulciano!" We've been there!!

Take care everyone. Hope to see you again soon.

Absolutely wonderful! A perfect blend of countryside and urban, scheduled activities and free time, hiking amid beautiful scenery and sightseeing edifices & works-of art having enormous historical significance. The tour guide went out-of-his way to meet everyone's individual needs, and the accommodations were very nice. I couldn't have imagined a better experience, and I'll always remember the fun and camaraderie we all shared.

MaryRose R., would you like to share a room on the Tuscany trip? I need a roommate now (as Evelyn G's plans have changed), and Ann R. tells me you're looking for one, as well, so this would seem to work out for both of us.

Now that Evelyn is not going to Tuscany is there still a waiting list or is there a slot available?

    August 10, 2013

    • Ann R.

There will be a slot available as soon as Evelyn officially withdraws. If anyone is interested they should call immediately to be put on the waiting list so they will be the one that gets the empty slot.

Ann, I just heard from my friend Diann B...I thought she had signed up on the trip but she learned there is a wait list...how many are on the list? Diann and I planned to travel and room together...Is there any hope of her getting in on the trip?
If I cancel, I lose my $505 deposit correct?
I guess my two reservations should have remained...Oh well.
    Have a good day.

I got a packet in the mail and it rates this trip as a 4 for challenging. I hope I can keep up! At least I'll be working off all the food and wine....

    June 4, 2013

    • Ann R.

You will be fine Evelyn! The walk we did last Sunday is rougher than anything we'll do in Tuscany! And it won't be hot either which will make a huge difference...and we won't be bush-whacking either.( and no mosquitoes or ticks!) The weather in Tuscany in April will be perfect for walking..warm in the day and cooler at night..

      June 4, 2013

  • Gail D.

Evelyn, I don't think you will have a problem keeping up. It can't be any harder than what we did this past Saturday, in the Kennebec Highlands....

I am really looking forward to seeing the Tuscan region. It will be nice to see Florence again. Hopefully they have finished cleaning the Duomo (I think that is how it is spelled?!)

    June 2, 2013

  • Ellen G.

    May 29, 2013

    • Evelyn

Ellen, I think Alice already put me down as a roommate.

      May 29, 2013

  • Deb B.

Ann, is the deposit refundable if plans change...A firend and I are very interested.

    May 29, 2013

    • Ann R.

here is the policy on the waiting list: "Once the tour fills, travelers do need to sign up with a $300 deposit to be added to the wait list, however the deposit is risk-free until we can confirm them on the tour. That means that if any time before Go Ahead can confirm travelers on the wait list, they can cancel their tour and be reimbursed their $300 deposits. In that sense, it is a great option for travelers."

      May 29, 2013

    • Ann R.

PS..there is also 72 hour grace period in which you can cancel with no penalty.

      May 29, 2013

  • Evelyn

I don't have a roommate if anyone needs one.

    May 28, 2013

    • Ann R.

      Hi Ellen

      May 26, 2013

    • Ann R.

It's a flexible payment plan which means you can pay any amount that you want at any time as long as it's paid by the due date which I think is 70 days prior. If you want to pay a little at a time that's fine or all at once is OK too. Hope this helps! Any more questions feel free to ask!

      May 26, 2013

Evelyn Greenlaw and I will be rooming together! Ann, it sure sounds like the Rome extension will include everything I've wanted to see there, going way-back to the time I developed an interest in ancient history as an adolescent.

  • Alice Grondin C.

Is anyone planning on going to Rome also?

    May 25, 2013

    • Ann R.

Alice, Elaine is doing Rome..I'm not sure about Susan and I haven't decided for myself either. I can find out if the other group has people booked for Rome..I am guessing yes. The decision doesn't have to be made now anyway. Evelyn, it's true that 2 days is not much time in Rome. What is included is the Colosseum and Roman forum and all over Rome in one day, and the Vatican which includes the Sistine Chapel, St Peters Cathedral and the Vatican museums on the other day. There is also some free time scheduled into the day or you can opt out of everything and have just free time. (although if you haven't seen the above I wouldn't recommend opting out of everything). I have done these same 2 days with 2 different student groups and it gives you a over view of the most important sites in Rome..however, there is so much more to see if you have more time! It's up to you if you think you'll be able to come back for a longer stretch at some point. I'm struggling with the decision too!

      May 26, 2013

    • Ann R.

PS...just noticed that we will be in Florence on Easter Sunday! It will be exciting..lots of bells tolling!
