Asian-Themed Potluck (any type of Asian Cuisine is welcome)

Asian food and cooking encompass many cuisines with Chinese, Japanese, Thai, and Vietnamese being most popular, judging by the restaurants in the area. The flavors from these cuisines not only bring wonderful sensations to our taste buds, but are so varied in flavor, that there’s no end to the choices available to sample and eat! For each person that you have RSVP'd for, please prepare a homemade Asian dish of your choice to contribute toward our dinner event, plus a beverage of your choice. Desserts or sweets are welcome as well, and can be your potluck item. Please post a comment describing the dish you will be contributing.


Here are a few food ideas (but don’t limit it to this list!), to get your creative juices flowing:

Sushi, Chicken Satay,  Lemon Grass Chicken, Dim Sum (such as potstickers, har gao, siu mai, etc), spring rolls, salad rolls, pho,  hum bao,  Thai red or green curry,  General Tso Chicken, Clay Pot Chicken, Tempura shrimp or vegetables, Black bean sauce with shrimp,pork or clams, Coconut Shrimp, ma po tofu, seaweed salad, bok choy, long beans, and the list goes on!

We will also be providing  plates, cups, napkins, eating utensils,  and some beverages.

This dinner is limited so please be sure to commit carefully as there will be a waiting list. We do want everyone who RSVP's to attend rather than not show. So, if you cannot make it please change your RSVP immediately so someone else can attend.

    Hi All,
    Between the 2 groups (Foodie and International Gourmet Dinner Club), we had 22 people in attendance. Wow, I was amazed by the food! We had some really good cooks in our company. I didn’t talk in length as I would have wished to with most people -- it’s kind of a hard thing for me to do while hosting at the same time. But, in the future I hope to get to know everyone much better at other events. I was glad Jimmy could co-host with me, because he did a great job welcoming our guests making them feel comfortable. <--thanks for that, Jimmy! But, I still did have a really good time because you all were GREAT COMPANY who brought GREAT FOOD. What more could anyone ask for? :)

    On another note, we were loosely talking about having a potluck in the future (date unknown) with a Spanish theme: Paella (with octopi) and Tapas. Would people be interested in this theme in the future? :)

      I found a whole bunch of hot cups,Sara!I don't have to buy them :) Do you think just having hot water in a thermal carafe will work? That would keep the water hot longer than in my tea kettle. It holds about 1 quart. It can be refilled often, as well :)

      Tea would be great, Sara. :) I have a tea kettle that I never use(but,I could get if off the shelf). Or I could have hot water on hand(boil it in a pot) and people could put the tea bags in a cup & pour hot water over. Are you bringing tea bags, or loose tea leaves?
