Please join us for a festive Spanish-themed evening featuring paella! Be prepared to enjoy a few variations of this most famous Spanish dish! All are invited to bring an authentic tapa of your choosing. We look forward to your culinary contributions - feel free to ask for ideas or recipes.
The wine enthusiasts among you are asked to bring a bottle of red wine from Spain to complement the meal. Alternatively, a nice Portuguese Vinho Verde makes for a great opener with tapas before moving on to the reds.
This will take place in your host’s backyard. Please bring a comfortable chair, Tapas( see below), and a beverage of your choice. A Spanish wine would pair perfectly with the Paella! We’ll have on hand plates, utensils, cups, wine glasses and also a limited amount of drinks and ice.
What’s Paella? If you are not familiar with this particular dish, it’s a wonderfully flavored Spanish rice dish seasoned with saffron with varied combinations of chicken, seafood, or other meats and vegetables. Check out the pictures to the left! One of your hosts has been making variations of this dish for years & it’s delicious! The pictures are his previous creations!
A little on Tapas: Tapas are a wide variety of appetizers, or snack, in Spanish cuisine. They may be cold (such as mixed olives and cheeses) or hot (such as empanadillas or chopitos --battered & fried baby squid).
