Baja Trek: La Fonda Follies

What do you get when you combine a Lobster Run + Cantina Crawl + Beach Trek.

You get the ..."La Fonda Follies."

Baja Trek and Adventuer Club San Diego have put together a fun and interesting Trek to Baja for January 12, 2013

This Trek will be a 2 day, 1 night stay and takes us to the world famous La Fonda Hotel in Baja California via the Alisitos Surf Camp and Rosarito Beach.

Some of the Optional Highlights Include:

*Beach Horseback Riding
*Mechanical Bull Riding at Papa's and Beer
*Drink Specials
*Splash Seaside Restaurant
*La Fonda Hotel's World Famous Brunch Buffet
*Beaches, Beaches and more Beaches

We will meet at the US Mexico border on the US Trolley side at the Greyhounds Bus Ticket Booth, next to the McDonalds at 10:00 AM on Saturday morning.

From there we will walk across the border and get on "Gus The Beach Bus" for a leisurely drive to Rosarito Beach, where we will park next to the famous beach club, Papas and Beer.

We will hang out in Rosarito till about 4:00 PM so that you can eat, shop, ride horses on the beach or drink and get crazy at Papas and Beer.

From Rosarito Beach we will make our way to Alisitos Beach Camp overlooking the beach and set up our camp. Alisitos Beach has bathrooms and showers. Bring your surfboard or inflatable Kayak if you want to surf on Sunday. From there we will go to Splash, one of the best restaurants in all of Baja California, with fantastic food at very reasonable prices, live entertainment and a full sports bar. Splash overlooks the ocean with an amazing view for a night of fun and camaraderie.

After splash we will head back to Camp to sit around the camp fire, tell stories and enjoy each others friendship. You can sleep in your tent or on the Beach Bus or if you want the option of staying at The La Fonda Hotel instead of Camping, let us know and we can arrange to reserve a hotel room for you. The rooms are about $75.00 per night with one or two beds. The Hotel is about 2 miles from the camp site by taxi.

The next morning ( Sunday ) we will go to The La Fonda Hotel for the buffet brunch with unlimited margaritas and drinks ( $14.95 ). After the brunch we head back to camp to relax, surf or enjoy the beach scenery.

About 5 PM we will head back to the border and take some time to visit Tijuana's fun Tourist area, then walk across the border and back to San Diego.

The fee for this Trek is $76.00. Bring some money for drinks, dinner, shopping and souvenirs. Included in the price of the Trek is two days of transportation, a night of camping, snacks, Baja Guide and FUN!

I am back from Mexico. I checked things out at the La Fonda Hotel.

Great hotel with restaurant, bar, live music etc. with view of ocean and access to the beach below.

The rooms are $84 dollars to about $105.00 per night.
$105.00 is for a bungalow, larger room. Visa credit card accepted.

The rooms are mostly one queen size bed but some have two queen beds. They all have balconies with views. Small soaking tubs and showers in bathrooms. Small chimaeras inside for a wood fireplace and free wood.

Let me know if you need two beds or one in the room at the hotel.

The fee for camping at the camp ground is included in the fee for the event. Bring your tent and sleeping bag for that. The hotel rooms are extra.

This will be a fun Trek with a great group of people.

    Happy Holidays
