5 Days at HootSuite ~ Seizing surprising chances to amplify brand w/ Dave Olson

This location is shown only to members

Not all marketing campaigns can be planned or expected. By sharing 5 specific days in HootSuite's recent history, Dave will provide tips to build brand under unique circumstances. Examples including revolutions, disasters, mis-Tweets and outages – all of which required rapid mitigation strategy to resolve conundrums in a positive manner.

In this presentation you will learn:

  • The importance of planning
  • Why planning is often useless
  • Managing cultural expectations
  • Power of listening before talking
  • Turning dials while also being helpful

Saw Dave Olson at a Startup meetup and he is a hoot yet oh so sweet. Learned to view a business as a living thing with lots of opportunities for fun if i choose to see it that way.

Hi Laurent, one resource I can point you to is the Hootsuite University program. If you're already a pro this will help out. Videos are very well made by Tasia and cover all important features, I highly recommend it. cheers http://ow.ly/8X4Pc

Enjoyed the delivery! Dave was not only entertaining but engaging and gave amazing examples of what creates success (online and off). It is organizations which amid adversity find the opportunities to come out on top. Hootsuite is definitely an example. Not only do they have a kicka** product but clearly a wicked awesome team.

Everything they're saying about the man is true. And he knows Kung-Fu too. Looking forward to seeing Dave at PechaKucha All-Stars on the 29th!

I came to learn "How Tos" about HootSuite (which can be done easily later), instead I learned very valuable lessons about PR, Marketing, Start-up. It was awesome. Thank you.

It was great, and feels like a stand up comedy show! Get involved some hot topics and even creat a hot topic/secene,use your own people/user to "cook"the hot soup--- It is PR! Btw, hootsuite wants to get into china, they must know Chinese famous social website! And it is not Facebook twitter definitely! Localized really means finding local business partner but not push west website to china ! Culture, language and government policy! You name it...

Great stories about Hootsuites usefulness and i am trying it out now. Thanks.

Dave's talk was phenomenal. The stories really gave good insight into the impact social media has in our world. He delivered it well, being both serious and hilarious (often at the same time.) He was honest and called out the bad guys (mainstream media) and gave props to the good guys (Amazon AWS). I also enjoyed the parallels he made to communication methods of yesteryear such as telegrams and his analogy of 'driving a social media bus' in relation to trying to gain a following. I'd definitely come to one of his talks again.

It was refreshing to see a marketing strategy build on positive energy rather than spin and bombardment. Here is a company that can actually say it is working within a community.
