It looks like i'm gonna get there a little later due to traffic, probably a tiny bit before 7pm. Here's hoping I'll be able to get in past the doors downstairs! Dont want to miss the IoT goodness!

Thanks for the comments, have it running fine on the serial host and just jumping into the genie side. I have Arduino controllers running various devices on my boat and the 4D displays seem like an easy option for touch control. I have built web interfaces for control via web/mobile and local PC (on the boat and remote). Also have switches wired in for decentralised control so trying to cover all bases for a unified system. It has been a couple of years in dev but starting to break ground. Would be happy to share what I have done but am sure you guys are way ahead of me. Tony.

Do you guys get involved in the 4D ( stuff at all?

(ok so don't hit return in msg!!) After fighting with the BB-View touch panel from element14 (got it going except for the colour depth) I found an entry... just buy the 4dsystems board... so I did, up and running straight away, then I went back and got another screen for the arduino... same thing. I can bring the beaglebone setup along on thursday night.

I did some work for them a few years ago and was burnt badly... so I have an axe to grind... but you should also keep in mind that they are also are very proprietary and do not support open source in either principal or deed. So if that is important to you I would avoid them.

Hi, I noticed at the last meetup a few people were 'in between gigs', so hope you don't mind I plug a role that's come up at a former client (I'm otherwise engaged):

This role is paying up to 85/hr (depend on experience) for contractor with their own PI/PL/WC Winforms VB.NET + XML + MS-WORD VSTO automation. It's a structural design quote, verification and reporting appl. integrated into a finite element analysis tool for seismic and stress analysis of high rise pallet type structures.

Kings Park, Blacktown area , would suite an engineer with an appreciation for structural analysis. Contact Peter Geoghegan by email (mention my name: Ian Finlay) [masked], one 12 month and one x 6 month contract on offer.
