October 2013 - Night of the Crabs and Carrie

This month we have a two-fer package. Details are below

Night of the Crabs - The Welsh coast basks in summer tranquility. Then the 'drownings' begin. But not until the monstrous crustaceans crawl ashore, their pincers poised for destruction, does the world understand the threat it faces. A seafood cocktail for the strongest stomachs.

Carrie - Stephen King's legendary debut novel about a teenage outcast and the revenge she enacts on her classmates.

Carrie White may have been unfashionable and unpopular, but she had a gift. Carrie could make things move by concentrating on them. A candle would fall. A door would lock. This was her power and her sin. Then, an act of kindness, as spontaneous as the vicious taunts of her classmates, offered Carrie a chance to be normal and go to her senior prom. But another act--of ferocious cruelty--turned her gift into a weapon of horror and destruction that her classmates would never forget

Extra credit - pick a book from the Goosebumps series and we'll have a mini book report/sharing time. Be sure to write which book you chose in the comments below!

    Hey guys,
Sorry but I won't be coming tonight. I was in London and I definitely didn't read any of the books (oops!) but I'm already looking forward to November. Hope you have fun! (P.S. I'm assuming that November will be slightly earlier than usual, because of Thanksgiving, but I'm sure you guys will figure all that out.)

I *suppose* London is a reasonable excuse not to have read the books... You should come anyhow!

Not reading the books had never stopped me. That said, I have actually read the books for one in God knows when.

Hi all, I just checked the calendar for St. Stephens green and it looks like they're having an Irish music night tonight. I don't mind going but it may be too loud for us to sit in a big group and talk. What do you all think? Split into smaller groups and just see what happens or use Dana Street roasting as a backup?

Maybe just so we don't lose people like we might have last time, why don't we meetup out front of St Stephen's Green and hang out there for 15 minutes and then pick another place to walk to?

The DeAnza flea market in Cupertino has a few book sellers that have great selections of the Goosebumps series. I picked up mine for a dollar. The market goes again this saturday so you still have a chance to pick one up before the meetup if you want to!

Didn't they make a movie on the book "Carrie"? Where The little girl in the movie started her menstrual cycle arms the mother beat her because it meant she has sinned and that God was punishing her? Does anyone know what I'm talking about? I swear I'm not crazy..

That's the movie your thinking about! I liked the film better than the book, but the book is still good.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
