The Kaipatiki Ecological Restoration Project walk is in a bush setting which follows the coast around to Manuka reserve (where there are toilets) and then through to Lynn reserve. There is also the option of walking back via the streets, about the same distance but not as pretty and steeper in parts
FOR PEOPLE THAT ARE KEEN A (BBQ AND DRINKS BYO) BACK AT MY PLACE AFTER THE WALK! But if you are NOT on walk then sorry no invite to the bbq!
Meeting Point: Entrance to reserve opposite to Glenfield college's tennis courts on Kaipatiki Rd. Lots of road parking
Distance: Approximately 10km return (at a guess) we will find out when we walk it!
Duration: Up to 2.5 hours depending on walking pace and duration of breaks.
Difficulty: mainly easy but with some steep areas and steps on good paths in the bush, however, we will walk at a brisk pace so reasonable fitness is required.
What to wear and bring: Good walking shoes, water, snack, warm jumper and wet weather gear.
We will leave on time in fairness to the whole group.
Group members have indicated that they like to walk in a smaller group with a preferred maximum of 20. Therefore the limit on our walks will remain at 20. Thank you for your understanding :-)
