IoT Meetup- June

This month, we'll focus on R&D in IoT, along with an overview of several core technologies.  Our guest speaker is Daniel Ford, Chief Scientist- Mobility & IoT at Dell.

Dan will share his perspective on processor design and capabilities, and how the evolution of processors translates into computational power in IoT devices and networks.  We’ll also discuss the implications for data centers, cloud computing, and databases.

As always, we'll have time for member announcements and open discussion around this month's topic- debate and new ideas encouraged.

    Hi IoT'ers,

Thanks for joining a summertime edition of the IoT-NY meetup. Special thanks to Kaltura for providing the venue, and to our guest speaker Daniel Ford, who took us on a journey through the world of processors, databases, and a 'lego alternative' to data centers in a great talk.

Also of note: as Gil Isaacs from Microsoft announced, Microsoft's Venture arm recently announced a 4-month IoT Accelerator to kick off in August in Redmond. Deadline to apply is July 21. Please see below for further details, along with info for a kickoff event in Brooklyn on July 17.

Thanks for the link, Jonathan. This ties back to an earlier discussion from the March meetup, focused on open source in IoT. We'll definitely be revisiting discussion in upcoming meetups around protocols and an open vs. closed approach to IoT.
