IoT and people

Rob van Kranenburg wrote The Internet of Things, A critique of ambient technology and the all-seeing network of RFID. He is co-founder of bricolabs and the founder of Council. He currently works as Community Manager at, an EU project addressing the transformation of business driven IoT infrastructure into an all-inclusive one for society by accelerating the creation of a socially aware citizen-centric Internet of Things.

Christoph Laib and Oliver Walkhoff will present, a collaboration between VIOS and Interactive Matter. While the Arduino-based project is not yet connected to the Internet it's definitely a great example of integrating local culture with technology.

Daniel Boos is a social scientist and a member of Dock 18 - institute for media culture, as well as Digitale Allmend. After studies at ETH on accountability and IoT applications he now works on human centered design at a big telco. Daniel will raise some questions about the IoT relating to society and moderate the group discussion.

Is there going to be any data-driven-speed-dating involved? I'm only curious. Those of us not already obligated to spend the evening with our partners on 14/2, are likely out looking for "people" rather than "things" that night.

Hi Oleg, wow, that is something indeed. Personally I forget even my girlfriends birthday so I would not remember this, but yes we will have to make this one cozy event! Rob
