I pray you are all well and that you had a wonderful Thanksgiving.
I've enjoyed being the organizer of the NIEC since the group (first organized by Katherine Dickle and Heather Hanson) merged to become the NIEC as part of the Entrepreneurial Center at the John and Mary Pappajohn Educational Center in October of 2006. We’ve had more that 48 sponsored meetings so far covering a wide range of topics of interest to the small business and entrepreneurial community.
Now, It is time for me to step down as the group’s organizer.
Since I left the Pappajohn Center it has become a University of Iowa facility and we no longer have access to that facility without charge. Meeting at the Pappajohn Center is cost prohibitive and is not an option. In addition, it has become increasing difficult to find appropriate (free) venues for our meetings and to schedule the meetings when a respectable number of you can attend.
Finally, there are so many more opportunities in Central Iowa for networking and education for business owners. Just think for example of the growth of new media platforms and how we communicate through Linked In, facebook, twitter and all the other new social media platforms.
I would like to transfer the responsibility for New Iowa Entrepreneurs’ Coalition to someone another member (or a team of members) in the group. If you are interested, drop me an e-mail and we’ll discuss the transfer in December – to be effective on January 1.
I hope a few of you will be interested in keeping the group going – if not, I will dissolve the group in January.
Best wishes for a wonderful holiday season.
