Open Shop Day

Open shop day is a time to tour the shop, learn about our other shop sharing programs, build a small project, learn some basic skills, or just hang out, socialize and observe.

We always have some remaindered materials available for free if you want to try your hand at a small project or practice with the equipment. Help and advice with your work is available. How much time we can devote to individual projects depends on turnout, the nature of the projects, and who is available for mentoring. If you have a project that is complicated or may run into several meetups, please message me to discuss.

We start with a brief meeting to find out what people want to do so that we can make things go smoothly. About mid-way we take a break for light refreshments (provided), discussion about the collective and your ideas, and general social goodness.

We meet once a month on the second Saturday with exceptions for holidays and possibly my own vacation time.

For those of you who have been waiting so patiently for us to revive this offering, Thank you for keeping your connection! We are definitely back on, and will be expanding into formal (paid) classes and workshops. Please do not hesitate to message me with your ideas and desires!

Sorry we missed you. Not sure if the next one is full. Sign up now if it is not, and keep watching is it is. I lowered the limit, then I got good help, and I will be raising the limit when I can stop and breath (big deadline).

I am a 41 married woman. I have always enjoyed helping my dad in his small woodshop behind the house I grew up in. After he passed away, my husband decided to buy me a butch of great tools including a butch of wood. I have only made a couple toy boxes and a lot of signs. I have never done anything completely alone, and to be honest the table saw scares me. I am hoping to learn some safety tips and gain some confidence in this hobby I so much want to do.

I know zero about this sort of thing so I hope its okay if I just peer over shoulders and ask what things are.

I'm surprised by the level of growth I've seen since becoming an organizer, it's given me more confidence in my abilities.
