The Draft Party is scheduled for Friday, June 24 at the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum. Passes to this fan fest are free, but individuals can only reserve up to eight passes. Doors for the Draft Party open at 5 p.m. and the live stream of the NHL Entry Draft in St. Paul, MN begins at 7 p.m. RED CROSS BLOOD DRIVE The Islanders are committed to Long Island, and with the help of the American Red Cross, they are also committed to aiding in disaster relief. The team is asking fans to help the American Red Cross in the quest to help others by participating in a blood drive Friday, June 24, from 12-8 p.m. before and during the 2011 Draft Party. Fans who donate early will not only help to save lives, but also receive a special thank you from the team. The first 200 people to donate blood will receive a voucher that can be redeemed for either an exclusive Meet & Greet with players that night or two tickets to a[masked] Islanders weeknight home game. Those fans will also walk away with a limited edition Red Cross Islanders t-shirt and a half ounce bottle of Pacific Shaving Companys All Natural Shaving Oil. The American Red Cross will be set up for donations in the Lower Box Office of Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum prior to and during the Draft Party. Fans will not only get their first peek at the newest Islanders prospect, but they will also have the chance to meet some of their favorite players at the Draft Party, including John Tavares, Michael Grabner, Matt Moulson, Trevor Gillies, Travis Hamonic, Micheal Haley, Matt Martin and Kevin Poulin. The Draft Party will also play host to the Islanders annual year-end blowout sale, with every item on sale at an enormous 50% off. This huge sale features huge savings on game-worn jerseys, autographed memorabilia, team apparel for all sizes, game-used equipment and limited edition collectibles. Interactive activities on the Nassau Coliseum floor will include locker room tours, street hockey contests, I.C.E. Tour inflatable games, video game stations, Atlantis Marine World interactive displays and the Trevor Gillies Stache Station, among others. The Hockey Hall of Fame exhibit will be on site that evening and will feature jerseys, sticks and skates used by Islanders legends. One unique display features Bill Torrey's bowtie from the 1980s. The Coliseum scoreboard, which normally hangs well above center ice, will be lowered for up-close, oversized interviews of the Islanders in attendance. The big screen will also feature exclusive, live coverage from IslandersTV at the Draft with interviews with members of the hockey operations staff and behind the scenes post-draft footage. The 2011 Draft Party will also host Long Islands first-ever American Red Cross Blood Drive. This event will launch a new partnership between the Islanders and Americas premier emergency response organization. Fans can donate blood in the Coliseums exhibition hall anytime between noon and 8 p.m. on draft day.
