“Tiananmen Square, 1989. As tanks roll through Beijing and soldiers hammer on his hotel door, Joe – a young American photojournalist – captures a piece of history.
“New York, 2012. Joe is covering a presidential election, marred by debate over cheap labour and the outsourcing of American jobs to Chinese factories. When a cryptic message is left in a Beijing newspaper, Joe is driven to discover the truth behind the unknown hero he captured on film. Who was he? What happened to him? And could he still be alive?

For this event, members need to purchase their own tickets direct from the theatre. All advance tickets for the play have now been sold out; however the remaining tickets for our performance will be released by the Almeida at 11 a.m. on the day. Please see the Almeida website for details. You may wish to leave a note of the seat you purchase in the comments beneath the event.
The running time is approximately 3 hours and 5 minutes, including a 20 minute interval.
I would be grateful if all attendees would contribute £1 each on arrival, to help defray the approximately £100 that it costs per year to maintain a group on Meetup.
I am arranging dinner after the play at Le Mercury Deuxième, just around the corner from the theatre. Please let me know when you RSVP if you would like to join us. As ever, attendees will pay for their own individual food and drinks (we don’t split the bill equally). As dinner will be fairly late in the evening, please have a look at the menu before coming and decide on your order so that we can order shortly after we arrive.
