Dead Party Animals – at the Hope Theatre

“There’s a crab hanging on to the DJ’s headphones. People are dancing in slow motion, treading water. Imogen’s wearing arm bands. A bottle of Smirnoff bobs past my head.

“I check my phone to make sure the rest of the world is still there.”

“A poetic, sambuca-swilling monologue told by a young man falling in and out of clubs and love on a typical night out in every city in England. As he struggles to handle his increasingly drunk mates, events spiral surreally out of control and his past comes back to haunt and accuse him.

“The world premiere play by Thomas Pickles, winner of the inaugural Adrian Pagan Playwright Award and theatre’s most original new voice, Dead Party Animals is a beautifully balanced and endlessly surprising piece of theatre.” – from the King’s Head and Hope Theatre website

I have arranged a discounted ticket price of £12 for members (rather than the usual price of £14). Please book your own ticket direct with the box office. To qualify for the discount you will need to enter the discount code WATERWINGS when paying for your ticket.

Please contribute £1 on arrival (to help defray the approx. £100 per annum that Meetup charges to run a group) – thanks in advance.

Let me know if you would like to stay on for drinks at Public House after the performance. I’ll need to know if you plan to join us, in order to include you in the booking.

In the days immediately prior to the play, I’ll circulate details of arrangements to meet before the performance.

Delayed but on my way - hope to make it in time. Maybe leave my ticket at the box office if I don't. Sorry.

I've spoken with the theatre and been advised we have a total of 11 people who booked using our group's discount code WATERWINGS. So on that basis I've arranged for a block of 11 seats to be reserved for us.
Also, we now have ten staying on for drinks at Public House. Please let me know if you plan to join us but haven't yet mentioned it to me. I'll add to the booking if required, early this afternoon.

Hi Jane, I'm giving my ticket to my sister (Catherine) and brother in law (Ollie) who haven't been out much since the birth of their 5 month old. I'm sure they would enjoy a drink afterwards and take full advantage of their babysitter (Moi). Enjoy and see you next time.

Sorry to miss you Roisin, but it will be neat to meet your sister and brother-in-law. Happy babysitting! See you next time

The people have spoken. I'll book at Public House. The play has no interval, and finishes at 8.25, so drinks will be at about 8.30. At this stage we have five staying for drinks(/tea/food) - Pam, Helen, Aaron, Alice, me. If anyone else wants to come, please let me know, and I'll add you to the numbers before I book - which will be tomorrow.

Quiet and bookable makes Public House a likely option.

Quieter places like Public House or Compton Arms sound good to me (reading Quiet - a book about introverts - so I even understand why!). Public House is bookable which might be an advantage.

Public House or Compton Arms - be nice to be somewhere quiet enough talk.

  • Pam

I like the look of Public House for drinks.

I've booked a ticket - assume seats are not allocated as I was not asked to choose one or anything. Anyway look forward to meeting you again there.

Great, thanks. See you on May 2.

For anyone who would like to buy your own ticket, the discount code is WATERWINGS.

  • Jane

I've now bought tickets for Aaron, Pam, Alice, Terence, Gillian and myself. I'll be in touch probably next week with possibilities for a plan for drinks after the play.

It would be rude not to drink afterwards - the Muses could always hold their drink and we should too.

    April 16, 2014

    • Jane

Neat. Some time in the coming days I'll circulate some options amongst those who are interested in keeping up with the Muses.

      1 · April 16, 2014

  • Aaron

Always up for an après-play drink if others also interested.
