Yossi Vardi - Topic: What next? Economic situation & trends

Joseph "Yossi" Vardi is Chairman of International Technologies, which is engaged in private hi-tech investments. Dr. Vardi is one of Israel’s hi-tech veterans, with 40 years of founding and helping build over 60 hi-tech companies in Internet, software, telecommunications, electro-optics, energy, environment and other areas. Several companies Dr. Vardi co-founded became successful public companies. Dr. Vardi backed some of Israel’s leading Internet companies, including Mirabilis, the creator of the highly popular instant messaging program, ICQ, which pioneered the Internet-wide instant messaging phenomena. The company was acquired by AOL, to which he served as an advisor. He also served as a strategic advisor to Amazon. He was a venture partner and one of the initiators of Pitango, one of Israel’s largest venture capital funds, served on the Advisory Committee of 3i, and serves on the Advisory Committee of Amdocs. Many of the companies he invested in or helped to build have been sold to Microsoft, Cisco, Yahoo, Sierra Wireless, AudioCodes, and others. Others went public (ITL, Tucows, Answers.com, Granite, Alon). He is co-author of Electric Energy Generation: Economics, Reliability and Rates, published by M.I.T. Press, and has published various scientific papers on energy and operation research. He is a member of the World Economic Forum and is on the Boards of Governors of the Hebrew University, the Open University, and the Weitzman Institute, and served on the Boards of Directors of a number of Israel’s major companies. Among his many awards are the Prime Minister’s Israel hi-tech award for lifetime achievement, Entrepreneur of the Year, and CEO’s Entrepreneurs’ Hall Of Fame.

Oren Ariel - Topic: From Software Tools to Enterprise Solutions - Growth Engines

Oren Ariel is Vice President of Innovation, Software Products at HP Software & Solutions. Prior to this role, Oren served as General Manager and Director of HP Labs Israel and prior to that, as Vice President and Chief Architect for HP Software, responsible for the architecture blueprint, product integration architecture and shared technologies supporting their Business Technology Optimization (BTO) product line. Oren joined HP in 2006 following its acquisition of Mercury Interactive Corporation., where he began his career in 2000. At Mercury Interactive, Oren served as Chief Architect and Vice President of R&D for the Information Technology Service Management Division, and co-founded its Software as a Service (SaaS) Division where he was CTO. Prior to joining Mercury Interactive, Oren co-founded and served as Chief Scientist of Narus Inc., as a consultant and an executive at several startup companies, such as TradingDynamics (acquired by Ariba), VDOnet, Ubique Ltd. (acquired by AOL), and Optibase Inc.
