Hello everyone!

It has been a while since I have sent out a note to the whole group and I feel as if I have been away... it has been a very busy time with the Puglia region events taking up most of our attention. For those who have joined us over these past few weeks, thank you! It has been wonderful to meet and/or see you again. We are so fortunate to have so many passionate and dedicated food lovers who adore Massimo's style of cooking. Your words have really inspired and humbled us, so thank you again!

Okay, know let me tell you about a very special event that Massimo and his good friend, Zoltan Zsabo, one of North America's top Sommeliers; have pulled together. I Galli Ubriachi, scheduled for this coming Friday (yes it is Good Friday, however with these two busy men, this was the only date we could find that worked for the forseeable future!!!) featuring a very special Southern Italian menu, which will be paired with exclusive, unique wines that Zoltan will bring from his own private network. The food and the wine, individually will be excellent, however paired, you are assured of an outstanding experience! Just like pairing our two experts - Massimo and Zoltan, they are kindred spirits or should we say... Drunken Roosters... er Cocks...wink

Here is a quick glance at the menu and wines for the evening... these are not final as those two "roosters" are still plotting...

A couple of wines Zoltan has planned:

  • 2008 Pinot Grigio Terre di Chieti
  • 2006 Montepulciano d'Abruzzo
  • 2006 Aglianico Beneventano
  • 2008 Primitivo Del Salento
  • 2005 Serra Sanguigna DU CROPIO - Calabria
  • 2005 Ciro 'Don Giuva' Rosso Classico Superiore

So just imagine enjoying these wines paired with Massimo's flavourful food, below is just a sampling of what he has in store:

  • Focaccia barese with artisanal capocollo and pecorino crotonese
  • Roasted oyster mushroom on arugola
  • Artichokes parmigiana
  • Carpaccio di Polpo(octopus carpaccio)
  • Cavatelli with seafood
  • Linguine with ovenroasted tomatoes
  • Rustic baby lamb with onions and potatoes
  • Orata in acqua pazza(Seabream in crazy water)
  • Rapini with garlic
  • Pastiera napoletana (southern italian easter pie with barley and ricotta)

We hope to see you there! The cost for this amazing event is $99 and as Massimo's Studio is a private residence, we ask that you respect the privacy of the event and only mention it to those who would really enjoy this unique and private experience. Zoltan and Massimo are both very excited and who knows, perhaps we could convince them to offer this monthly, what fun would that be!!!
