Porcini mushrooms experience, fresh pasta, good wine and friends

  • August 3, 2013 · 7:00 PM

After covering exactly 313 miles of beautiful winding roads, I finally got them. The Boletus Edulis aka his majesty Porcino mushrooms. You are going to have probably your first experience of eating a fresh Porcini. Few restaurants ever have it, when they have it, 90% of the times are frozen………..But they never offer fresh Porcini mushrooms salad, it
would be too expensive. Shaved row Porcini with extra virgin olive oil, lemon, fresh
thyme, fresh mint, fresh pepper, shaved Parmigiano.  Supermarkets don’t have them neither Whole Food nor Farmers Markets. You can’t grow them. I will travel again next days and we are going to have this incredible dinner based on these rare and fascinating
mushrooms. One of the courses, besides the salad, will be fresh fettuccine (we
will make it) with sauté’ Porcini. The cost will be $ 30.00 and I will provide
everything, from the food to pots, pans, tables, chairs, flatware, plates, table
linens, utensils………..bla,bla…….and everybody brings a bottle of an Italian wine
and a glass. The Meet up is open to 30 people and the location is my home in

Lafayette. I will email the attendees the address later. Let’s have fun, cook together,
eat and drink good wine!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I went hunting, and found a few mushrooms.
Maybe we should have a reprise of the porcini dinner.
Or I'll just invite some people for dinner, you bring the vino.. ;-) :-0

Thank you all for welcoming Ann-Kathrin and Tiziana, interns from Germany. They have been in the US for 10 weeks and thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to be invited to a home environment, friendly people and great food. Thank you again Valerio and everyone there.

Valerio, so sorry I couldn't make it. I also live in Erie, and the storm was really pretty intense. Lost power, and my windows became like waterfalls. Messy! Hope you organize another one soon!

Just a reminder that rain does not affect the " Italian food and wine lovers".

Valerio, so sorry. I am totally traumatized by the storm just over here in Erie. My garden is trashed, trees are down, windows leaked. I left to come over, but the sky looks terrible to the west and I don't want to be caught in another round of this, so turned around and came home. Never seen anything like this in Colorado! Hate to miss the evening.

I have a conflict. I love Porcini mushrooms. I could buy them and many varieties of mushrooms at the Whole Foods in Connecticut. I noticed the selection isn't so great here. :)

Please, check if you are double booked for Saturday with the Summer wine down and barbeque and make the necessary RSVP adjustments.
It is not fair for people in either waiting lists.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
