I know this is last minute but if you are available TONIGHT (Tuesday), we are volunteering at the Second Harvest Food Bank.
Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina (SHFBM) strives through education, advocacy,
and partnerships to eliminate hunger by the solicitation and distribution of food.
We provide a regional distribution warehouse and branches that supply food
and grocery items to charitable agencies that assist people in need.
Sorting, inspecting, boxing and stocking food for the agencies. Also, on an as needed
basis; packing food boxes and/or food backpacks for kids. Helping us keep the
warehouse clean by moving pallets, dusting and sweeping. Please note! For your safety,
volunteers must wear closed toe shoes.
Training begins promptly at the start of each shift. Please arrive a few minutes early to
allow time for signing in and making a name tag. Training and materials are provided for
all volunteer tasks.
Children 12 years of age are welcome to come with their parents. For ages 13-16, we
ask for one adult for every six teens. Ages 17 and up may come on their own, but no
one under 18 is permitted to operate any equipment, including pallet jacks. We are
glad to provide documentation for community service hours needed for school."
