Finalmente!!! Finally, an Italian Wine Club!!!
Every month we'll meet at Bel-Caffe' coffee house & wine bar to focus on a particular region of Italy, its wines, cuisine, and traditions. We'll have some antipasti and taste several wines from that particular region. I encourage everyone to participate in this and bring photos, materials, books, stories, anything in regards to that region. Come learn about the Italian regional culture & wine, and also practice your Italian skills!
We'll start our first meeting this month, Nov. 22 to talk about Piemonte. It's a region that is perfect to talk about just before the holidays!
Piedmont: the region’s name comes from "ai piedi del monte" (at the foot of the mountains), the imposing Alpine ranges with famous skiing resorts such as Sestriere, Bardonecchia, Limone Piemonte, where the last Winter Olympics took place.
Its principal city Turin is a centre of baroque art and has one of the most important Egyptian museums in the world. A sophisticated city also renown for its world-class chocolatiers.
Piedmont is a large industrial centre and the wine produced on its southern hills (Barolo, Barbera, Barbaresco, Moscato, Dolcetto D'Alba, Asti Spumante) is particularly important.
Monferrato and Langhe hills are famous for its superb foods, Medieval Castles, and for the esteemed White Truffle.
Guided wine tasting of: Moscato D'Asti, Dolcetto D'Alba, Barbera, Barolo.
Cost: $15 (includes wines and antipasti). Pay directly to Bel-Caffe' upon your arrival.
