Bring your Handout pack from last year, or pay $1.00 at the event if you want one.

Espresso, tea & coffee to be served. You are welcome (encouraged) to bring a cake, pie, cookies or dessert for yourself and others to share, so we can all have a variety of desserts, or pay $5.00 per person (including guests). Fresh fruit cut & ready to serve is also appreciated, but to ensure we do not have ALL fruits or ALL cookies, we must ask you specify whether you are bringing fruit or sweet.

If you are not a Member, you may attend as a guest by contacting our Organizer for an invite.

You will be reminded to pay about 2 weeks before event date. PLEASE make your intention known as to which you choose.

Al and/or Armida will sing a couple of famous Italo-American songs in the traditional Neopolitan or Operatic style - made famous by popular Italian-American or Italian singers.

Italy is a diverse country with regional variations in language, food....and music.

For the music intellectual (or aficionado of the folk tradition) we will listen to (and learn about) samples of historical Italian Folk Songs from throughout Italy, and compare them to the modern traditional Neapolitan songs known throughout the world as typical "Italian music."

We will take a look at the findings of Musicologist and Researcher Alan Lomax who brought together these folk music recordings in the 1950s. One of his objectives in these studies was to learn more about how and why distinctive folk song styles develop.

Also, the origins and meaning of "L'Opera."

These are actual photos taken during the research.
