For this particular Event, new member Armida has offered to perform an Operatic Aria.
Join Maria and learn how to make fresh Manicotti from scratch.
You will learn how to mix batter and make the Manicotti shells, fill with the finest ingredients and bake to perfection. And of course, we will EAT them fresh out of the oven! This is a "hands on and hands in" course, so bring your aprons.
There is a $10.00 per person materials fee (per mouth, whether preparing food or not), payable by Feb 10th. This includes Insalda (fresh vegetable salad), Espresso, coffee & Italian cookies & cake. Bring your own wine (preferably red). (Call or email to arrange payment by Feb 10th). Since we are buying fresh ingredients in advance, there are no refunds if you do not show up after paying, UNLESS someone on the waiting list steps forward into your place.
We will end up with some good "conversatzione" ......
Maria has been baking, cooking and preparing Italian favorites all her life. She owned and managed a bakery in New Jersey in the early 90s, and was influenced by her grandmother.
Italian cuisine is stylized by intensely regional and family influences. Maria's family style is Romano-Napolitano with a classic influence from the Mezzogiorno of southern Italy (with a touch of Brooklyn- "eh- wah yo!"). Maria says "...the challenge to cooking Italian in Las Cruces is getting the ingredients available in the big cities. But we will overcome this with time."
