Historic Walking Tour in Druid Hill Park

Historic Walking Tour April 27, 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM

Join the Friends of Druid Hill Park on our Historic Walking Tour of Druid Hill Park. This major urban park of 745 acres is one of the oldest urban parks in the country and a direct result of the early American Public Parks Movement. Only Central Park in New York City, 1858, and Fairmont Park in Philadelphia, 1859, pre-date Druid Hill Park.

Friends of Druid Hill Park members Tom Orth, Ed Johnson, David Ditman and Rob Brennan will provide the commentary.

Tours begin at the Rawlings Conservatory.

**This tour includes significant walking.**

Tickets: $10.00  All proceeds benefit the Free Programs provided at the Druid Hill Farmers Market.

We try to offer a variety of events throughout the year. Keep an eye out for the announcements of the 17 weeks of free programming at our Summer Farmers Market. Also, our Winter and Summer Solstice events are suggested donations. This Summer the Solstice event will be held on Friday June 21st - activities will include camp fire, music, hay rides and more!

I believe in supporting our public parks, but I wonder why most of the events sponsored by this group are so costly. A donation request perhaps instead of a "walking fee". I live close enough to enjoy all your events but can't afford to do so.

We just grab a coffee and speak French. Some people have been coming every week for months... it creates a kind of warmth to the group.
