Dear members of IxDA Limerick,
For the last two years, myself and Marc McLoughlin have been responsible for the running of the Limerick chapter of IxDA.
Marc has now finished his PhD and has taken a job in Athlone - where he might start another Irish IxDA chapter at some point! I would like to take the opportunity to thank Marc, on behalf of all the members of IxDA Limerick, for all his efforts and time invested in our chapter over the last two years.
At the moment I am looking for a co-organiser who could help me run the chapter. Ideally, I would like to see a practitioner getting involved, but anyone who's interested in giving me a hand is welcome.
Also, last year we won a grant from UNDESD that helped us keep all the activities free. As this year we have not be able to secure any financial support, we might have to charge a small amount to cover the costs of using Meetup and the meeting room in the Absolute.
Although we will continue to invite speakers and organise indoor activities, we might as well organise outings to other places and various other networking events.
We are starting this autumn's activities with Connected Limerick, on Tuesday, 1 November 2011, at the Hunt Museum. Please note that the event will start at 4pm and finish at 6pm. We'll be in the Captain's Room, a much more inspiring place than last year!
For the following events, we are planning to revert to the first Wednesday of the month, at 7pm, in the Absolute Hotel.
I am looking forward to your suggestions for new activities.
If you are interested in giving me a hand as a co-organiser, or you know someone who would, please reply to this email.
