Designing immaterials :: Jack Schulze (Berg)

  • Feb 27, 2014 · 6:00 PM

Software, systems and technology are increasingly present parts of our lives. Design has a confident history in understanding the opportunities and constraints in industrial materials and processes, like wood, print, video and plastics.

This talk addresses the emerging landscape of opportunities in Immaterials, new technologies like wifi, big data, artificial intelligence and even time!

How does the rapid emergence and penetration of this baroque new stuff affect the landscape of design?

Jack Schulze will use examples of work from Berg and others to paint an intricate picture of the new landscape of immaterials and what it means to the things we make, buy and use.

We just got confirmation from MESH that Jack Schultze talk will also feature... Chairs! A more comfortable and enjoyable experience will be had by all while listening to the magnificent adventures of Jack and the team at Berg.

      Unfortunately no. Being a not-for-profit hosting free-for-all meetings has it's limitations :-)

Check out BergCloud's new project, the brilliant cloud-connected washing machine.

(I just bought a new washing machine and had to sift through 20–30 models in search of non-horrid UIs. I may have to have Jack's colleagues retrofit the one I ended up buying.)
