'Data needs poetry' :: Tom Halsør

  • This location is shown only to members

What is that thing, that sometimes makes information transform to meaning and even action?

What does data smell like? Why should you smell data?

The talk is a string of stories, reflections and case studies on the matter of making complex matter engaging and meaningful.

Tom Halsør is an award winning interaction/information -designer working at NRK. He can also be seen teaching information design at the National Academy of The Arts in Oslo and is an Associate Lecturer  at Central Saint Martins in London.

Tom is also the head of Grafill Edit, one of Norways biggest design conferences.

As he has been responsible for the Design & Usability of the new NRK Nett-TV, he has been doing a large amount of talks and lectures the last year on the new ways and thoughts behind this huge project.

Kudos to @brendandawes for the title 'Data Needs Poetry'. I saw he tweeted it a few years ago and loved it :-)

Really interesting talk. Made me want to start every project by doing a visual analysis of the current situation, like old NRK net TV.
