A great session! Here are a few insights:
    • Users express their needs in a transactional manner with the objective of completing a task quickly and easily. In the gift-giving experience, my partner wanted help in finding out what someone might like as a gift, and find out the best way to buy the gift, wrap it and deliver it.
    • A good user experience must go beyond transactions and connect with user at emotional level, which requires understanding the user’s emotional need, which I believe is the hardest part! I think I missed the boat when I focused only on improving the transactional experience for the user rather than the emotional experience of what they really needed.
    • Business Applications could also benefit from emotional connection. It may seem like for business applications, efficiency in transactions is most important, but can we probe further to find out what is the overall objective? What can be an emotional connection?

I will appreciate your thoughts on this. Thank you!

Are we going to need anything more than something to take notes? Will materials be posted online after the meeting?

    • John M.

Great questions, Donald. We will provide all materials for this workshop. And we will also post a followup after the meeting with resources. Thanks!

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
