New to America? No speak English? Want to work but you are afraid English no good? Want to talk in English more good?
Or do you want to learn or improve your French? Meet your fellow French speakers. Practice your French, improve it, or teach others who are still learning. We have social meetups (usually every third Friday of the month) and sometimes a movie night.
One of our other events is the bi-weekly FREE workshops. The French and English languages in a library classroom -- but no teachers (they're expensive!)... You either learn as a beginner, improve if you're in the intermediate level, or help and maybe teach others if you're in the advanced level! We all share our knowledge and resources to advance in our quest to become better French or English speakers. That doesn't mean it's going to be serious all the time during the workshops; most of the time, if not all, we'll be informal, relaxed, conversational, meeting other people, and -- most important -- FUN!
Or if you want to meet people from other countries, this is one place to go to and learn customs and traditions of different cultures. You will learn, improve, and maybe help others to speak English and/or French in a relaxed, informal setting, even though the meetup (meeting) is in a classroom in a library.
The JAX French - English Exchange Meetup Group meets for about two hours in the Southeast branch of the Jacksonville Public library every second and fourth Saturday of the month.
