Detroit Public Library’s Comerica Java & Jazz: A Coffee House Series, celebrates its 14th season!
This year, we are very excited about the talented lineup for the 2014 Comerica Java & Jazz concert series and we think you will be too. We invite you to come out and join the fun at the Detroit Public Library - Main Library.
MEETING SPOT: 5:15pm-5:30PM Main Library Entrance. Let's connect prior to the performance to be seated as a group.
Performances are FREE and open to the public every third Tuesday of the month @ 6:00 p.m. The auditorium opens at 5:30pm for seating.
PARKING: FREE parking is available AFTER 5PM behind the library in the employee section. Enter thru the Cass Entrance. There is paid guest parking at Wayne State and across the street at the DIA on John R.

The renowned trumpeter and his vocalist wife perform jazz and blues at its finest as they take you on a musical journey from the ‘30s to the present. Marcus Belgrave, known for his longtime gig as the master jazz trumpeter for Ray Charles, has enthralled audiences worldwide with his musical virtuosity. Enter in the powerful, yet alluring voice of his wife Joan Belgrave and you have a must see event to mark on your calendar.

"A Detroit jazz legend and his stolen horn have been reunited."
Marcus Belgrave’s custom-made trumpet, which was stolen from the trunk of his car on Friday night in Eastern Market in Detroit, was recovered at Zeidman’s pawnshop, a few blocks east of the market area. The trumpeter picked up the horn at the downtown police station this afternoon, blowing a few choruses of “Oh Happy Day” for the assembled media as his wife, Joan, sang along.
“I’m smiling from ear to ear,” the 77-year-old Belgrave said later. See the full article here:Article link
