Carl Cafagna is one of Detroit's most sought-after performers, well known as both a vocalist and a saxophonist. He has performed with headline acts, including Natalie Cole, Johnny Mathis, Mel Torme, the Four Aces and the Tommy & Jimmy Dorsey Orchestras, Jazz luminaries such as Kenny Burrell, Richie Cole and Marcus Belgrave, and also with Detroit-area favorites like Hot Club of Detroit, the Scott Gwinnell Jazz Orchestra, the Johnny Trudell Orchestra and Metro Jazz Voices.
In this weekend stint at the Dirty Dog Jazz Cafe, Carl will be featured on tenor and soprano saxophones, clarinet, flute and Voice. He will be joined by some of the leading musicians in the Detroit area, including Bill Meyer and Scott Gwinnell on piano, Miles Brown and Jordan Schug on bass, and Scott Kretzer and Stephen Boegehold on drums. Music will be mostly standards from the Great American Songbook, with a few original compositions and uncommon gems thrown in for good measure. There will be plenty of old-fashioned 'swinging, singing and slinging!'
