Summer is imminent! Join us on our next Pocket Flotilla to expand the reach of our beloved 244s.
We plan to take a couple 244s for the weekend and spend the night out of town. Up to 3-4 people can easily sleep inside a 244 with the proper cushions and sleeping bags. We also have custom made galley stoves and small porta-potty heads to make the boats suitable for overnighting. We’ll need at least a couple confident skippers, and there’s also room for others with less experience.
We'll organize ourselves in advance by email, then we'll meet up early on the Saturday morning to pick a destination.
Here is a short slideshow of past pocket flotillas past:
GEAR: You’ll need to bring the “personal gear” on this list:
Let’s keep meals individual, except for a communal dinner on Saturday.
DESTINATION: Historically we’ve crossed the straight to Gabriola Island when the forecast is favourable, or explored Howe Sound when weather looks iffy.
COST FOR JIBSET MEMBERS: JibSet charges $75 per boat per night for overnight trips, which is very affordable when split amongst the crew. This fee helps to offset costs for gear such as stoves and porta-poties.
COST FOR NON-MEMBERS: Since non-members don't contribute to the boat costs the way that members do, the cost will be $75 for the trip plus a $15 "recreational membership" which lasts 3 years. The $15 can be counted toward a full Jib Set membership if you later join the club.
REGISTER: Please sign up on this MeetUp page, and please also email James with your phone number so we can have a brief chat prior to the trip.
