We're setting up a series of lessons for beginners to learn how to shoot portraits. So many requests for portrait from new members that we're setting up a series of Portrait Lessons to cover the many ways of shooting people.
Those who have attended the numerous portrait shoots may want to skip this one. But for the beginners and those who still haven't gotten a grasp of portrait shooting, this is for you!
For this beginner tutorial, we are going to have the subject sit between the sun and the camera. The sun will be behind the subject's head and we will shoot into the sunlight. In this case, the subject will be darkened because of the intensity of the sunlight. That's where we need to light up the subject with a reflector or a speedlite/flash. Watch this video to see how it's done.
Meet here at Cyberport. It's on the west side of Hong Kong and we'll get the evening sunset.
What to bring ...............................................................
2. Speedlite with off camera triggers or, a reflector in place of a speedlite. If you have a point & shoot camera, bring a reflector.
3. Optional: Softbox, beauty dish.
No models supplied. YOU are going to be the model.
