Michael is originally from Toronto, Canada, and has been a professional photographer for over 15 years. He specializes in providing commercial / advertising photography for global brands such as Audi, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Honda Motors, Bell Mobility, Sprint Telecommunications, TD Bank, and Nintendo. He is also a highly respected photography instructor and has taught advanced photography courses at Ryerson University and The International Academy of Design & Technology for over 6 years. As a working photographer, he is always kept abreast of new developments in the industry, which ultimately transfers to his teachings. As such, his students are always exposed not only to current technology, but also the most effective and efficient techniques on how to apply this technology to image making.
His workshops are taught in English, and are designed to further the education of the many excellent beginner workshops available in Hong Kong. He feels that photographers, whether hobbyist, serious amateur or pro, always yearn to expand their knowledge beyond the basics. He's here to help! The workshops focus on the intensive exploration of 3 key elements: intent, capture, and finesse. Class sizes are small and limited to 10 students at a time. Additionally, private workshops are available for those who desire a fully customized experience catered to their specific interests and needs.
Workshop 2 - CAPTURE: Advanced Shooting & Lighting - HKD 4,750
NOVEMBER 10 and 11 9am - 6pm (1 hour lunch)
Combination of theory + practical + technical.
16 hours total over a weekend
(Saturday & Sunday)
Saturday: 4 hours in-studio +1 hour for lunch + 4 hours in-studio
Sunday: 4 hours on-location + 1 hour for lunch + 4 hours in-studio (location vs. studio may be reversed according to weather conditions)
CAPTURE is designed specifically for intermediate/semi-pro photographers who are looking to take their technical skill set to the next level. The only pre-requisite is that you are comfortable with the full manual operations of your camera, namely the direct relationship between aperture, shutter speed, and ISO. Those who are not familiar with these operations are encouraged to attend my many free meet-ups (via JPG) scattered through-out each month.
The primary goal of this workshop is to reveal many practical in-camera techniques and workflows used by current professional photographers, especially concerning photo shoots that involve a crew and sets. This is a great opportunity to witness the behind-the-scenes of how professionals work, a process which is normally hidden from public view. You will also be introduced to the latest and greatest cameras and lighting equipment, and not only see what is technically possible with such technology, but more importantly, how they benefit the pro photographer.
It is always ideal to get the best image in-camera, and not to rely on post-production to fix mistakes.
