Pre-trip meeting for those going to Steamboat.
For those of you who attended the November fundraiser for the Blind Skiers from FSDB, here's how the students benefitted from your support: (from their blog)
We woke up to about 6 inches of snow this morning, which meant a great time for the group that went skiing and a great clear day for the group that went snowmobiling. The group that went snowmobiling made it all the way to the top of the clearing above the tree level! It was an amazing experience for them. The group that went skiing had amazing fresh snow and most of the athletes made it to the top of the mountain today! As the week begins to come to an end, I begin to ask questions like, 'What was your favorite part of camp so far?', 'What have you learned this week?', and 'Can you please stop throwing snow balls at Miss Alex?'
So far these are the answers that I have received from the students:Ashley: I enjoyed the downhill skiing, even the falling! I also learned how to be more independent and how to be more responsible for myself and my actions. For example, being on time for meetings, meals and outings. Joe: I really enjoyed snowboarding. I learned how to snowboard and it was very fun!AJ: I really liked how many snowball fights we had this week. I learned how to ski and it was great!Quinn: I really think that snowmobiling was my favorite. I learned more about myself, spiritually and also how much I can physically do. Tyre: I liked tubing the best. I also enjoyed cross country and downhill skiing. I learned how to ski this week. Nick T: I really really enjoyed downhill skiing! I had so much fun! I learned a lot this week about faith and God. I also learned that each one of us has an angel watching over us.
Nico: I liked everything about this week and I could not pick a favorite! I learned about falling while skiing and I also learned how to drive a snowmobile.Cortlinn: I really liked pushing Miss Alex down the tubing hill and her tube almost running over Dr Lee. I learned that there is no wrong way to pray!Matt: I really enjoyed the tubing on the first day, we went really fast down the hill! I also liked meeting a lot of new people. I learned to not judge people or camp and to accept people for who they are and I enjoyed meeting all new friends!
