Baseball - Flying Squirrels vs. Harrisburg Senators

Tuesday evening July 30 seven of us went to the Diamond for a baseball game and has so much fun we're going to do another one.

It's the Richmond Flying Squirrels vs. the Harrisonburg Senators.

The between inning antics at the Diamond are at least as interesting as the baseball game.

Here is the team's web site:

First pitch is at 7:05. I plan begin driving over at 6:20 pm from Stuart Circle where I live.

I have two options on getting there:
Option #1 - meet me at Stuart Circle, and we can drive over together.
Option #2 - meet at the ballpark and connect via cell phone.

    We experienced:

    1. Comfortable temperatures and a lightning show in the distance that lasted most of the game plus a spectacular near full moon that peaked in and out of the clouds over center field.

    2. Peanut night at the park with lots of free goodies plus $2 drink night.

    3. A fun group of JRHikers to be with plus the nicest collection of folks both behind and in front of us.

    4. A baseball game that began in the 1st inning with the visiting team loading the bases with no outs and Richmond being fortunate to escape the inning only 2 runs behind.

    5. Capping it all off, Richmond entering the 9th inning with the game tied 3- 3 and ending it with a walk-off home run.

I don't know what else you could have expected from an evening at the minor leaguer baseball park this late August evening in Richmond.

We're meeting at 6:15pm at the stadium entrance. Or carpooling from Stuart Circle at 6:00pm , not 6:20pm as noted above.

    Tonight's game includes:

    - An appearance by Alfonso Ribeiro, who played Carlton Banks on the show Fresh Prince of Bel Air.

    - Peanut Tribute Night (wonder what that is).

    - Peanut Butter Drive benefiting FeedMore's Central Virginia Food Bank. Bring a jar of peanut butter and be entered to win prizes.

    - An appearance by Dancin' Deb

OK, so the above picture is throwing folks off a little. Yes, guess what, that's ME! But no, that is not my husband beside me, that's a fellow Hiker after the 9th inning, and maybe too many peanuts! lol
