Aug. 15, 7:00 am - Volunteer to maintain James River Park bridges

This is an opportunity for James River Hikers to give back to the James River Park System by helping  maintain on the 100+ wooden walkways, bridges and handrails of the James River Park System.

The process we have adopted is to do the wood preparation including clearing, cleaning and applying a de-molding eco-friendly  agent in the first step.  Then come back with a follow-up  Meetup to apply the stain after the mold has been eliminated by the applied chemicals.

All work materials and supplies will be provided by the James River Park System staff.

Here are structures we have worked on and how they looked before and after.

It was a great morning and we got lots done. Dennis is a tough task-master. A very friendly, hard-working group.

So fun! We got so much done. Not only was it a nice way to spent a morning, it felt good to give back to The park system. Also enjoyed great conversations with nice and interesting people.

I can go right after work (which ends at 0720) so I will have to meet you on the trails.... would that work ok?

Tracy, that will work fine, and we'll really appreciate and need your help. You can call text me when you get close to find us. I expect we'll be near the upstream (west) end of the North Bank trail.

I am so sorry but I began full-time work this week and can't help this day. I'm looking for other opportunities to join the group, though!

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
