EVENTS: Two things. First, I want to say thank you to everybody who attended the karaoke Meetup on Saturday, March 24th. With 15 people attended, it was our most successful Event ever! Lauren seems to have really tapped into something that people are interested in. Lauren has also created her own bilingual Japanese/English Karaoke group: http://www.meetup.com/JKaraoke/ Feel free to join it! She would love to have you :)
And we are having our Japanese Anime/Sitcom Viewing Event on Friday, April 6th at 7:00 PM: http://www.meetup.com/Japanese-Language-247/events/51151492/ If you would like to attend, please RSVP. It is a nice night where you get to watch Japanese TV, speak Japanese with friends and also drink as much as you like (my treat!) As for food, please bring CASH and we can order in (no debit/credit card nonsense!) You are also welcome to bring your own Japanese language DVDs for us to watch, provided that they have Japanese subtitles in kanji. Japanese-subtitled materials are hard to find, so we appreciate any and all efforts and we will watch anything!
FACEBOOK POSTING: Linda and Ding have been quite busy, posting and making our Facebook page awesome! Thank you.... I respond to any and all posts, so we can practice Japanese conversation if you write anything at all. I also posted a really cool Japanese calligraphy/illusion pic on Thursday that I received from Azusa. Feel free to post a comment if you can figure out what it means ;)
Now that the weather is getting nicer (?), there are a lot more opportunities to go outside and enjoy life away from a computer screen. My advice is to bring your Japanese textbooks/grammar books/manga with you! Manga are especially small and can easily fit into a purse or jacket pocket. There are so many moments when we are just sitting around, especially while waiting on a line somewhere. This is the moment where you can whip out your Japanese book and read for a couple of minutes. Only a few minutes of reading seems insignificant but it adds up and makes you hungry for more!
Japanese Language 24/7 Policy: Inactive (non-participating) members will be gently deleted from our roster on a daily basis. The definition of "inactive" is a member who does not post on Facebook OR attends any Group Events for 30 consecutive days. To be considered "Active" and to avoid being gently deleted, come to at least 1 Meetup Event a month OR post at least 1 Facebook post a month. Thank you. And I am always available for any questions or help that you want. If you want or need help, please ask. We are all here to learn WITHOUT judgment or trolling. The only bad Japanese that will get you booted from this group is NO Japanese (or being a no-show at an Event.)
