Ohanami #2

Inclement weather:

Hello,

As you've noticed it is raining quite a bit, and the forecast is not reassuring.  I stopped by the UW on Friday and the trees were still blooming quite strongly and beautifully.  At this point, we are still planning on having ohanami tomorrow, but the inclement weather has forced us to come up with a contingency plan.

So, tomorrow, please look for Daniel and Michiko in the quad starting around 1 o'clock.  If it starts raining, or the ground is too wet, we'll relocate to Big Time.  We'll post an update here when we do, so please check back prior to coming.

Big Time is located at 4133 University Way NE, about 2 blocks west of the UW.  If you have trouble locating us, please contact Daniel or Michiko directly through the meetup website (or mobile app) and we'll help you out as best we can.

This was the original date for the ohanami pickup, but it appears that 3/31 may work out better.  Because of the late notice, and the likelihood that the sakura will stick around, we'll have events for 2 weeks in a row, same time same place.

Please bring whatever food or drink you'd like to have, and anything to share with others. Please note that alcohol is technically prohibited in public spaces in Seattle.  If you have any kind of large picnic blanket or chairs that you can bring, please let us know.

Depending on the crowd and weather, we may nijikai over at Big Time for their "grumpy hour" specials :-)

Parking is free at the UW and on Seattle streets on Sundays, although bus service is a bit more limited.  Still, the UW should be pretty darn accessible from anywhere within Seattle. The most convenient UW parking lots are N5, N1 or N6.

Samantha, don't worry. It was not a good day for ohanami and blossoms were gone.

Looks like I won't be able to stop by, after all, as I have other plans this afternoon, and spent the morning wishing my nieces a happy birthday.

There is a huge underground parking lot that is convenient to both Quad and Big Time. The entrance is on 15th Ave. NE and NE 41st ST. It's free on Sundays.

We had more rain last night and this morning; however, the weather forecast sounds better than yesterday. We may have a better chance to see sun this afternoon. Daniel and I will be at UW Quad if it's not raining. If it's raining, we will be at Big Time Brewery on the University Way. It is a cold day; bring a blanket and a picnic sheet.
