Thursday Bounenkai - 忘年会 @ Issian Wallingford

  • Dec 27, 2012 · 7:30 PM

Let's forget the last year in style at Issian!

We'll pre-order a few things to make sure that we have plenty of maguro no kama on the way to our tables, but people can add on a few things as needed.

I'm guessing we'll have slightly light attendance this week, so I reserved for a slightly smaller than average group. Early RSVPs may make Issian's staff planning a bit easier, so please let me know as quickly as possible if you're motivated to come. As usual, please keep your RSVP up to date.

We'll order a bunch of vegetable dishes, but for those of you who are stricter in your vegetarian habit than I am, keep in mind that many items contain katsuobushi or non-vegetarian soup stocks. Expect to eat lots of yakitori, maguro no kama, some tofu salad, and maybe even a miso gratin or two. We'll probably get a bunch of yaki-onigiri as well.

Issian is a very good value, but it is more expensive than our usual meetup spots. Expect roughly $25/person for food plus whatever you think you can put away in takezake and nama-biiru. Bring plenty of cash and retain all your important extremities.

Bus access is easy with routes 16 and 43, along with a few others that put you within adventurous walking distance. Parking is easiest along 46th and 47th, but you can often find something right on the main drag. Please observe parking signs if you're in a residential area, as Wallingford does have some zones restricted to residents after 6pm.

Nijikai will probably be at the nearby Irish pub or maybe May, depending on the whims of the group, or you can join Kojiro and me and wait in line for ice cream at Molly Moon.

Sorry about that. I think someone had edited the address on one of the listings that meetup stores. We've used the location so often I forgot to double check the listing.
