Thursday's Meetup @ Yard House downtown

From: Jason T.

I've updated this Meetup. For more details, see the full listing:
http://www.meetup.com/JapaneseSeattle/events/229530686/

When: Thursday, April 14,[masked]:30 PM

Where: Yard House Restaurant
[masked]th Ave Ste 118
Seattle, WA

This week we're in Downtown Seattle, just across from Westlake Center.

Yard House is a pretty decent pub type place. It's got a very long menu, but my coworkers loved their fish & chips, and I know they are atypically good at catering to vegetarian and vegan needs considering the type of food they focus on. Pricing is super-reasonable for most of the menu; most people can expect to eat for $14-20 after tax/tip unless you order fancier/heavier steak & seafood options.

They'll arrange for separate checks. It never hurts to bring plenty of cash, but I think they can juggle credit cards if you're patient.

Parking can be a bit frustrating, but you may find free street parking near the Pike Place Market if you're lucky (Western or on the cobblestone) or along Stewart. Parking at Pike Place Market, (1531 Western Ave), Hillclimb Garage (1422 Alaskan Way) is $5, but about a 4-5 block walk. Macy's garage & Pacific Place Mall's evening rate are both $6. The building in which the restaurant is located has a $7 evening rate if you want the extra convenience.

Bus access is easy. Pretty much every downtown Seattle-bound route stops nearby. The nearest light rail/bus tunnel station is ostensibly the Westlake one, although University St. Station is almost the same distance.

I'll be coming back from Denver so there's a chance I'll be late for pre-kai unless I have good luck. I am leaning toward meeting in the back bar area of Long (also known as the Jellyfish bar, in spite of present lack of jellyfish), 1901 2nd Ave. Post a comment here if you're coming so you can find each other (and hopefully me). I'll probably come and order a kumquat (キンカン) cocktail if my flight works out. I will try to arrive by about 6pm. We'll filter over to the restaurant around 7:10 or so.

Nijikai may be at the Pike Place Pub if we decide to keep things beer-themed, Gameworks if people want proximity, or somewhere suggested by a downtown denizen.

This Meetup repeats every week on Thursday.
