Post #: 3

Overview

Bright Power is seeking a Developer to join the development team for our flagship EnergyScoreCards™ product. EnergyScoreCards™ is an online energy analysis tool specifically designed to help medium to large buildings use less energy. Our system organizes energy and water usage data, supports financial planning for energy improvements, and tracks the progress and success of energy and water-saving efforts.

This is a great opportunity to be part of a young and evolving SaaS B2B product and to participate in defining the technology roadmap for it as well as future follow-on products. You should be independent, flexible, able to tackle new challenges while also being a professional with high standards for quality in development practices. Successful applicants will already be skilled at Java development, but will also possess a desire to grow their skillset in new directions and with emerging technologies.

Required Skills

Minimum 3 years of heavy Java development experience, with a solid understanding of core Java fundamentals. Applicants should understand why things work not simply how to do them.

Excellent SQL skills and in-depth knowledge of at least one of the major relational databases (MySQL preferred)

Experience with Test-Driven Development/Agile development practices. This includes using things like unit testing frameworks (JUnit/DbUnit/HTMLUnit/HttpUnit/Spock/etc.) and mocking patterns/frameworks (Mockito/JMock/EasyMock/etc.) in a continuous integration environment.

Extensive hands on experience with Spring and Hibernate

Desirable Experience

• Groovy/Grails
• EhCache
• Redis
• Selenium
• JMeter
• Hadoop
• Experience configuring/deploying applications in the cloud

About the team/project

EnergyScoreCards development is done by a Scrum team and is based on the following stack:

• Groovy/Grails/Java
• Spring
• Hibernate
• Tomcat
• Linux
• MySQL

In the future as we look towards scaling our architecture we will be increasingly investigating and incorporating Cloud & BigData technologies. In addition we will be looking into the use of NoSQL databases as a more optimal platform for storing some of the kinds of data we anticipate aggregating.
