A Real World Stack for Combined Web and Native App Development (Dan Menssen)

Over the past several months, I've had the opportunity to architect an AngularJS based application serving as the storefront for a large restaurant chain, which will power both the website and the native mobile apps via PhoneGap. In the process I've learned a lot about Angular, about managing a build system to handle both web and app builds, and about how reusable code written for the web can be for a mobile app. This talk is about the greatest hits of those lessons. I'll touch on Angular, PhoneGap, RequireJS, and Grunt, but I don't expect prior knowledge of any of them.

Dan is a Minneapolis developer who is currently doing consulting work at Olson (the ad agency) after burning himself out running the technology side of a startup company. His background is as PHP developer, but has always had more fun ranting at people about how cool Javascript is.

8:15/8:30 - Free time to discuss, network, hack, etc.

It's always a great event, hope to see you there!

+1 for having the sequence of code changesets on github. I couldn't see very well from the back row, but it was easy to follow along on my tablet.

Just watched the hangout. Good stuff! I also wrote a small angular script to handle responsive actions, figured I would throw it out there https://github.com/randallmeeker/psResponsive

There's been a fair amount of interest in this one being recorded - we will go ahead and setup a hangout for this, and post the link here when ready.

Sounds like a great presentation that I'm unfortunately going to have to miss this time around. I know some sessions have been broadcast via Google Hangouts - any chance someone will be recording this one?

I would love the answer to this as well if its being broadcast or if there will be a hangout video posted afterwards.

When doing simultaneous web/app development with Angular and Phonegap I followed the original version of this guide: http://blog.gauntface.co.uk/2014/02/05/cordova-web-best-practices-v2-0/

Made for a pretty nice build process. Thoughts? I created this app with it: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.pcds.acmobile

Hey all, this is my first JavaScript meetup. Pretty pumped for this one. I just finished a project where I designed an Angular web app for a large healthcare company.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
