Re: [jsmn] Recruiting/Gigs

1.) Twilio (my employer) has been sponsoring the last several meetups - I usually do the spiel before the meeting, but we provide a (pretty snazzy and easy to use) REST API for sending/receiving SMS text messages, making/receiving phone calls, and embedding VoIP functionality into browser-based or native mobile apps.

So direct your thanks to Twilio in the form of signups and API usage :)

2.) Good feedback on the sponsorship front.  I have also been looking at ways to bring in notable developers from out of town for some meetups.

I cannot speak for JavaScript MN in any way, but thought I'd mention that MNPHP's (new) answer to that question is "You could help us by helping us to bring nationally-known speakers to the Cities to speak to us. Hotels, flights, whatever".

I think it's a good policy since everyone wins
  • the group attracts more members
  • your company gets name recognition as sponsors
  • the attendees get a good speaker
  • the speaker gets a venue and audience

Are there opportunities for recruiting groups to sponsor Javascript MN?  Giveaways, pizza, drinks etc?  I wouldn't be opposed to allowing a brief pitch for a particular group before the official start of the meeting from a sponsoring entity who has put up some money/swag  for the privilge.

On a related note, the last couple of meetings I've been to there has been pizza; and someone has paid for that pizza.  They deserve recognition and our thanks.   Who's been providing?
