Re: [jsmn] [JOB] Globant is looking for a Web UI Developer in Minneapolis, MN!

It's not the volume of recruiter mail, it's the type of recruiter mail that's the issue.  Exceptionally vague, or poorly targeted mail is not welcome, but I am quite interested in mails that look like it was written by a human and for a list of JavaScript propeller-heads.

Personally,

I'd prefer a separate list for job postings. They are useful but in this list I find them too noisy. I think I get what Eric is saying though, moving them to a separate list will make them less visible and thus less effective for people who post real, relevant and descriptive job postings.

Tony's suggestion may work.

I'd appreciate anything that reduces the recruiter to everything else ratio.

Over at Ruby.MN we:

- Moderate group signups, with a question asking if they are a recruiter
- Moderate first-time posters. This usually prevents "hit and run" job postings by technicall recruiters.

If the job description doesn't involve Ruby, we'll usually nuke the message and remove the person from the list. It's worked out quite well, I think, and I've only had to yell at a couple people.

I also usually encourage people who are hiring to show up at the meetings and actually network with the local ruby community.

Can we charge them to post and then have a lottery for who gets the money? I plan on hiring a node.js dev in the future, and if we can keep this list curated yet accessible that seems win/win.

I agree, this is getting to be too much.

My initial thought is to create another opt-in communication channel for JS related jobs.  Seem reasonable?

Grrr...

I'm pretty close to abandoning this mailing list.

I don't mind the occasional job posting. This one is useless though. What is this job for? What are the requirements, responsibilities? Nothing? Can we at least have a link to a posting? No?

I'm just curious if this list will continue to be 90% recruiter spam. If so I'm sorry but I'm going to be leaving. As I said, job postings are fine (as long as they have value, unlike this one) but that's not what I'm interested in.

Thanks,

Chad
